Barcelona welcomes African fashion designers in june 2013
Assurely the entire world has fallen under the spell of African fashion. After New York, Johanesbourg, London, it is now Barcelona’s turn to host an African fashion week.
Planned to last 3 days, this first edition will be held from 13 to 15 June 2013. The attractiveness of the Catalan capital guarantees a successful event. This is an event that Mayasi African Fashion will follow very closely this year.
For the memory it is not the first time that Spain puts the spotlights on African fashion. Madrid already hosted an event dedicated to African fashion in 2010, event which was a great success. It was an opportunity to admire the beauty of metissage between African and Spanish cultures with for example the work of Spanish designer Maica of Carrera.

African fashion has witnessed a huge surge of interest in recent years. It has inspired designers around the world to work with African fabric, kente cloth, wax or bogolan. Dresses, shirts, skirts in ankara fabric abound now. A great joy to see this metissage.
